How many HP do I need for a 300 ft borewell?
For a 300 ft borewell with water at around 200 ft, a 5–7.5 HP V4 submersible with 30–40 stages is typical for 1–2 inch delivery at 150–250 lpm. Yield matters as much as depth — a low-yield well needs a smaller pump with a dry-run protector, not a bigger one.
What does PM-KUSUM actually cost me?
Under Component B, a 7.5 HP standalone solar pump (≈ ₹4.7 L system) gets 30% central + 30% state subsidy and up to 30% bank loan; you pay about 10% (≈ ₹47,000) upfront plus the loan EMI. Some categories get state top-ups. Use the calculator above and confirm with the installer.
Can I solarise my existing electric pump?
Yes — KUSUM Component C adds panels and a controller to your existing grid-connected pump with similar subsidy; a hybrid controller lets you run on solar by day and grid at night.
